More about the Theme

Both on the macro cultural and local contextual levels the landscape in which chaplains work is constantly changing.

  • How can chaplains remain engaged and relevant in such rapidly changing times?
  • As religious identification declines and spirituality becomes increasingly pluralistic, how can chaplains fill the gap for those have either a secular or complex spiritual orientation?
  • As systems increasingly call to do "more with less" how can chaplains advocate for the importance of the essential value they bring?
  • What can you do to grow professionally to be prepared for future trends in the world of chaplaincy?

A panel of local leaders with participation of attendees & break-out sessions will address such themes as:
  1. The impact of technology on chaplaincy:  Telechaplaincy, social media, online communication.
  2. What makes chaplains unique? How is this communicated to the teams and organizations chaplains work in?
  3. Is current training of chaplains addressing the ever-changing landscape of chaplaincy?  How do chaplains work differently to address the plurality of spirituality?
  4. What does professional chaplaincy, personal development and career longevity look like in 2025 and beyond?
